Geraldine Petersen | Cape Town

My story:

My name is Geraldine Petersen and I am in my early 50s. It’s a wonderful phase of life for me, as I have finally found contentment.

I was employed for 30 years in the medical profession, service delivery and corporate services.

I am an intrinsic hunter and have a drive for growth and excellence and to be the best. I still have it. Now this drive is directed at finding my purpose and becoming more content. Not chasing the glamour of achievements in the traditional sense, but my own personal goals, achievement and success – I am a Body Stress Release practitioner.

Body Stress Release helped me in so many different facets of my life. I was introduced to Body Stress Release 15 years ago, and the quality of life it gave me was amazing. I went from being in constant, excruciating pain from my cervical spondylosis to total relief over time. I was forced to seek alternative care for my condition because my neurosurgeon said there was no safe surgery. I was introduced to BSR by my husband.

From my nursing training in the medical profession, first I could never understand how if touched at the time, (the BSR release), bricks would would fall off my shoulders. I was light, relaxed and I felt that I could conquer the world again.

I was intrigued and decided to study this wonderful technique to help people relieve pain, discomfort, and improve their sleep.

I gave up a 30-year traditional medical profession. At the time, I was doing a high-stress job and believed that we are programmed to work to survive. The only way of life I knew was working hard

When I had COVID in 2021, and was isolated, I faced death many times. I asked myself, in reflection, whether I had lived my life to the fullest. I only knew work and looking after my family on repeat for 30 years. The COVID experience encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I was still going to help people and empower them in a different way. I will never discredit the medical profession, doctors are the diagnostic specialists and nurses can save lives in emergencies.

Body Stress Release shows you that the body has the ability to heal itself.

I often see people addicted to work. They say: “I would like to come, but I am too busy.” I have learned that taking time to care for yourself is equally important. I often see that people are cruel yet impatient with their bodies.  If they have pain now, the pain must disappear immediately. BSR is not a miracle “cure.” Healing takes time. When tension and stress are unlocked, potential is released.

Take care of your body regularly, so that your body can take care of you.
